What Is USP Glycerin?
USP glycerin is refined glycerol meeting United States Pharmacopeia (USP/NF) or equivalent European (EP) and British (BP) monographs. It is colourless, transparent and virtually odourless, the benchmark for regulated personal care, OTC pharma and high-purity chemical synthesis.
Upstream production mirrors other glycerin grades: biodiesel transesterification or oleochemical splitting, followed by concentration and vacuum distillation. Additional polishing, ion exchange, activated carbon and microfiltration, achieves compendial chloride, sulphate and heavy-metal ceilings.
